Circus Book

Hello,

I am an MA in Publishing student. As part of an editorial project, my project team is developing a book proposal on the circus, with an academic and theoretical base. Some chapters we are considering developing involve the clown, social and cultural theory, performance theory, and fashion theory in terms of circus costume, old and new.

Can anyone offer any advice on what such a book should include? Any theorists or important contributers who should be included in such a book? Does anyone know of any important costume designers in the history of the circus?

My group appreciates any and all feedback. What do you think a book on the circus should include?
